Traditional Lippan Art Workshop: Heritage Meets Contemporary Expression
Join us for an immersive art workshop led by Simmi Singh an artist whose Gujarati artisan heritage runs deep through generations of skilled craftspeople. Drawing from ancestral knowledge passed down through family traditions, Simmi will guide you through the ancient art of lippan work while exploring how this beautiful craft can speak to contemporary audiences.
Lippan art, originating from the Kutch region of Gujarat, is a traditional mural technique that uses clay and mirror work to create stunning decorative patterns on walls. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the fundamental techniques of preparing clay mixture, creating intricate geometric and nature-inspired motifs, and incorporating mirror fragments in the authentic style that has adorned Gujarati homes for centuries.
